Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2007
I love this recipe because it's so easy to make, and I always have Minute Maid lemon juice on-hand in my freezer. I prefer my lemonade with pulp, but I never buy lemons. One thing I do differently with this recipe is to boil the water and then dissolve the sugar; sometimes I add herbal or green tea (peppermint is great) to the water, but my husband says that at that point it's actually iced tea and not lemonade. Thanks for the recipe, Jo!

Firecracker Grilled Alaska Salmon

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2007
Awesome marinade! I used this recipe on two blocks of nigari tofu, making 6 "tofu steaks" and grilled them over hickory chips in our gas grill. I reserved some of the marinade before adding the pepper and onions to make tofu for my kids who don't like spicy. Thanks for the recipe, Christine, it made my husband say, "let's have tofu again tonight!"

Frog Eye Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2007
Delicious fruit salad like my mom used to make. I used lite whipped topping and omitted the coconut. I used canned peaches instead of oranges and sliced fresh peaches on top before serving - I also added some cinnimon, fabulous with the peaches. This makes a huge amount of salad, but everyone (7 adults) loved it and it was gone by the next day. Thanks for the recipe, Judy!

Adam's Dirt Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2007
I give this recipe 5 stars because the dough is divine; the cookies are good, but not extraordinary. I used half the salt and double the vanilla (because I love vanilla), and I also used small crumbs and large chunks of Oreos. My cookies did not have a "crackled" appearance like nascargirl's photo. Thanks for the recipe, Adam!

Pina Colada Rum Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
My husband loved this cake. I used light rum instead of dark because that is what I had on hand; probably would have been better with the dark, but still delicious! Thanks for the recipe Roger!

Almond Maple Granola

A really fantastic recipe for granola. I used flax meal instead of sunflower seeds. My 5-year old said, "now I love granola!" and my 2-year old loved it too. Thanks for the recipe, Jennifer!

I made this dressing with olive oil... it was a little too tart for me, but my husband and sister loved it.

Pizza On The Grill II

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
This recipe is great, though I will need more practice so as not to singe the crust too much. My husband loved it so much that he ate it as soon as it came off the grill - he didn't want to wait to take it to the table. I used the "Pizza Crust for Bread Machine" recipe and made my own sauce; pizza was like what we get at a microbrew pub. Thanks for the recipe, Mathilda! Update: I have made this recipe so many times because we can't get enough of it. I've found that neither the grill nor the bread needs to be oiled, but I keep the pizzas small (6 inches) so they are easy to move around. After cooking the first side, I take them off the grill and add the toppings then put them back on. I use a gas grill with mesquite chips - excellent flavor. I use a combo of mozzarella and smoked gouda cheese, but now we're experimenting with salsa (instead of tomato sauce) and cheddar cheese. This recipe is so fun!

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2007
Delicious granola! I didn't have oat bran on hand, so I used flax meal instead. Also, I didn't add the seeds or nuts, but threw in a handful of cashews and some rice crispies. I only made half a batch, and it made a lot, but I'm sure it will be gone soon. Thanks for the recipe, Annie9!

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: May 23, 2007
Delicious banana muffins. The only changes I made were to add 1 tsp of cinnimon and 1 tsp of vanilla. I made mini muffins for my daughter's preschool class, and all the kids loved them. Thanks for the recipe Abi!

Delicious peas, and easy too! Instead of using chicken broth, I added Bragg's Liquid Aminos and some garlic salt. I also added Herbs de Provence. Thanks for the recipe!

Lemon Sugar Tea Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2007
These cookies are pretty good, but I like to make them smaller than "walnut size". I used 2 tsp lemon extract, and next time I will add a little more. I suspect that reviewer who complained that these are "too sweet" used the entire 2 cups of sugar in the dough rather than reserving a cup of sugar to roll the dough balls in. This recipe makes very pretty cookies.

The Best Veggie Sandwich

Good-bye Quiznos.... I've found something better! I used smoked Gouda cheese which gave the sandwich a bacon flavor. I also used ciabatta bread. I would eat this here or there, I would eat this anywhere. Thank you, thank you, Debbie Walter!

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
This cake is so good. The same recipe was on my box of "butter pecan" cake mix, so I used that instead of the yellow cake, I also did not add the nuts. I did not make the glaze; I'm sure it would be even better if I had.

Vegetarian Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
I only made half a batch, and now I wish I'd made the whole batch.... there was a small fight about who got the one leftover serving. I didn't add the broth, but put in a extra can of diced tomatoes and some water. I also used fresh onions and peppers and frozen corn, and used Fritos corn chips. Next time, I'll probably add black beans. Thanks for the great recipe!

True to the name, these snacks were gobbled up. My kids weren't thrilled, but they need time to adapt to new food. These snacks satisfy our "cookie craving" and are faster and less fatty than cookies. Delicious!

Garlic Broccoli Spears

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2007
This is my family's favorite way to eat broccoli.... only I use A LOT more garlic... usually the whole head. Sometimes I sprinkle grated mizithra cheese over it before it's served. I omit the lemon juice. I buy the chopped, fresh broccoli from Costco and trim off the ends if they're dry.
