Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
Wow! These remind me of those Hawaiian rolls I love so much. I started making these before I realized I ran out of regular butter so I used honey butter. I don't know if that changed the taste much but these were soooo good. I also brushed them with melted honey butter when I took them out of the oven for a picture-perfect sheen. Now if only I took a picture. Darn it. :) Make these, and try it with honey butter!

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
I've never baked, or even ate for that matter, a Tres Leches cake. It was different but very good. A friend from Honduras requested it for his birthday and he enjoyed it. Be sure to poke enough holes in the cake with your fork so that it absorbs the milk mixture! Thanks Stephanie!

The Best Chicken Fried Steak

Soooooooo good. This is southern comfort food at it's finest. I love it. The gravy requires quite a bit of spice to avoid being bland..watch out for that! :)

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
These were great! I think next time I'll use a little less sour cream though. I'm not a big fan of sour cream and I'm pretty sure I could taste it in the sauce. It didn't matter much though because they were quite possibly the best enchilada's I've had in years.

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This is a good basic pizza dough that you can't go wrong with. Try using half whole wheat flour for a different flavor. Top that with garlic cream sauce from this site and some pre-made grilled chicken (for salads) and you have a delicious "gourmet" pizza that tastes like you spent hours preparing it! Add some sun-dried tomatoes to really woo your guests. :)

Sweet Potato Pie with Marshmallow Meringue Topping

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
This recipe is fantastic! I usually stick with the highly reviewed recipes to be safe but I went ahead and gave this one a try. I'm glad I did! This is my favorite way to eat sweet potatoes. It's nice and sweet, almost like a sweet potato casserole.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
Pretty darn good and really easy! I used 1/2 cup of cocoa to give it a more chocolaty flavor. I think I'll use a little less next time though. :> I also made these into muffins instead of regular brownies. That way each one get's a nice crispy crust all around.

Banana Crumb Muffins

I doubled the recipe for a bake sale and they sold like hotcakes :). Tip - Leave your butter out for about 30 minutes to make it easier to make the crumb topping.

Blueberry Muffins I

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
These turned out so good! The only things that I did different were to use a few squirts of lemon juice instead of lemon zest (Didn't have any) and I sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on half of the muffins prior to baking. They turned out fantastic! Definitely a keeper.

Vicki's Hush Puppies

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
Delicious and easy! These are better than hush puppies from any restaurant, hands down. I added a little bit of garlic powder to my batter and I used a food processor for the onion. It brought out a lot of the onion juice which I think gave it some extra flavor. I also didn't have self rising corn meal so I used 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and and enough cornmeal to make 1 cup out of the mixture.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
This is the best lasagna I've ever had (really!). Not only is the lasagna to die for, but the sauce is PERFECT for spaghetti or whatever else you'd use tomato sauce for. It's very forgiving so feel free to add more garlic, more basil, or whatever you want. One thing to consider though is the salt. I really think 1 tablespoon is a typo and that it should be 1 teaspoon. That is what I used and it turned out perfect. I also used fresh basil (Use 3x the amount when using fresh). Dry basil just can not compare.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
This Chili was really good, and very easy to make. Since this is the first time I've used this recipe I followed it to the T. I think that next time I make it I'll reduce the tomato juice just a bit because it was a tad on the runny side, but we enjoyed it nonetheless!

Easy Pizza Sauce I

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2009
This sauce was pretty good. I reduced the water and oil to 1 cup and 1/4th a cup respectively as other reviewers suggested and it was a good consistency. For those complaining about the oil on top, try beating the sauce with a fork (like an egg). You have to mix it really well to distribute the oil throughout the sauce.

This was so good! I was careful to leave some larger bits of the roasted garlic intact so the bread in the end had yummy bits and pieces of roasted garlic.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
This cake is very good and really easy to make. I've made it twice now and both times it's been kind of fragile (falling apart easily while cutting), but sitting overnight after being frosted seemed to help the rest of the cake stay together. The second time, I increased the cocoa to 1 cup. The extra chocolate flavor was d'lish! :> Definitely keeping this recipe around.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
These were sooooo good. I doubled up the recipe and I think they lasted about 5 minutes at the party I went to. I think I'll quadruple the recipe next time! Instead of sprinkling the brown sugar I dredged the bacon in a pile of brown sugar while wrapping the smokies. That way each smokie was evenly coated. Very easy, and it really wasn't that time consuming.
