Spiced Pickled Beets

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
I gave this 5 stars even though I made some changes. It is such a great base recipe. After reading the reviews, I added 1/4t cinnamon, doubled the "pickling juice" ingredients, and refrigerated it over night. It was awesome!

Holiday Chicken Salad

This is really good. I adjusted the ingredients to my own taste and I also added about 1T honey mustard. It's very good on a croissant and if you chop everything up super small it is great for a cracker spread!

Honey Butter Yule Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
We loved this. The only thing I will do differently next time is make sure to use butter with no salt. Our ham was a little to salty, but you could really taste the honey, it was great!

Quick and Easy Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
I fixed this this morning for Christmas Breakfast and it was great. I did make a couple of unintentional changes. I was so tierd last night I didn't pay attention to the ammount of rolls called for and I used a 3lb bag. Because of this it wasn't done when I removed it from the oven and it went everywhere when I turned it onto the platter... so I dumped it in a 9x13 dish and popped it back in the oven. We loved it!

Lemonade

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2009
I have to admit that I've never made home made lemonade. YUM! I made a simple syrup w/ equal parts sugar and water warmed on the stove top til sugar was dissolved. Next time I think i will use more sugar, but that is just a matter of personal taste.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
I was trying to come up with a good spinach artichoke dip that I could make ahead and reheat for my daughters graduation party. After reviewing other comments and recipes, this is what I came up with. I added 8 slices of bacon (per my daughters request), a whole brick of cream cheese and a whole jar of alfredo. I think using the whole jar of alfredo is the key to reheating it and having it remain creamy. I think I gained about 2 lbs testing it!! So easy and so good.

Fajita Marinade I

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
Really good. I thought it could have been spicier, but my kids thought it was perfect. I still gave it 5 stars because I think spice is a matter of preference. I loved the combination of flavors this doesn't even compare to pre-packaged mixes.

Very good. Made just as written leaving out the butter. It didn't need it. This was very easy and I will make it again.

Yum!! I didn't think the orange was to strong I think it could have been stonger. Will use less ginger next time though.

Beer Dip I

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
By the time a adjusted and tweaked and adjusted this recipe it was very yummy. The recipe as made was very salty and not enough beer taste. I ended up adding another brick of cream cheese and more beer. My advice for this recipe is add the ranch mix a little at a time and taste as you go to get the proportions right. I will make it again, but with my changes.

Zesty Breakfast Burritos

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
Really good. I swapped out all ingredients for low cal/ fat ones including using precooked turkey sausage that I chopped up into small pieces, then combined with the rest of the ingredients. I thought the vinegar sounded strange, but it really does add something yummy. I made mine a little smaller than called for and I got about 12 burritos. Next time I'm going to play around with the recipe and add some onion and chopped bell peppers to bulk it up more w/out adding fat or calories.

Fabulous Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
I made the slow cooked corned beef from this sight and used the broth from it instead of the broth called for in this recipe. Also no butter because of the fat in the broth. Followed the rest of the recipe and we really liked it.

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
So good. I put it in the crock pot at 6am and we headed off to the city for the big St. Patrick's day parade. When we got home at 4:30 it was still a lttle under done, so I turned it up to high for another hour and 1/2. I boiled new red potatoes on the stove in the broth and also made the Fried cabbage recipe from this web sight using more of the broth instead of the chic. broth called for in that recipe. It was really good. The only thing I will do differently next time is strain the broth to get the peppercorns out. They were not good in the cabbage. Even my pickiest eater agrees we have a new tradition!

An ok starting point, but We didn't like the soy sauce in it. I had to adjust the recipe so much that it isn't even worth going through all the differences.

Spaghetti Sauce II

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
We loved this sauce. I used diced fire roasted tomatoes instead of whole because that is what we like and I didn't add the meat. I cooked it on low in the slow cooker over night and we had it for lunch after church on Sunday. I had to add some chicken stock to thin it out, but that is probably due to the long cooking time. Next time I will add less red pepper, but other than that I will make it exactly the same actually, I think I will double it and freeze the leftovers.

Oriental Hot 'n' Sour Soup

Not really like soup I've had in Chinese places. I only gave it 3 stars because I added so much extra stuff to bring it along. I added cooking sherry, soy sauce, bean sprouts and 1t chili paste.
