About this Cook
I am 23 years old, from New York and I love to bake anything and everything. Whenever I have a day off, I spend it in the kitchen. I like to try new things, but nothing too unusual. Just a twist on an old tradition is good enough for me.
My favorite things to cook
I am still working on cake decorating (stupid cake crumbs in my icing!!) but I love cut-outs and all types of cookies and biscottis. My personal favorite flavors are citrus: Lemon poppy and Cranberry orange are my favorite combos. (I also bake things I don't like..such as anything with coconut.)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's chicken soup, of course! The traditional cinnamon rugelach that appear on my profile picture are a result of a day of holiday baking with my European grandmother.
My cooking triumphs
I made cookies that looked like they came out of a chocolate box, and I made a Butterfly cake that came out adorable. I also made really nice biscotti, drizzled them and everything. And heart shaped half-dipped cookies. Those were time consuming, but came out real nice. Oh! and Linzer Tarts! Those came out pretty, too, but aren't so popular with kids.
My cooking tragedies
If my mom doesn't finish one of my muffins with her coffee, that means it's bad! Any time my biscotti doesn't slice neatly...or the time I used a silicone baking mat in a convection oven. That didn't work out too well.

Cake Mix Cookies IV
I used DH butter golden mix and threw in some chocolate chips. They looked great and were a big hit. I was apprehensive about a "cake mix" taste, but these were nice and buttery!

Honey Mustard Easy Franks
I had to leave the kitchen so I didn't eat it all before my husband came home. Simple, cost-efficient and tasty. Serving it on a bed of rice.

Banana Bread VIII
I always end up with some bananas hangin around, and I decided to give this one a try. It was really quick and simple, followed it to a T, and everyone liked it!
