White Layer Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
Loved it! My guests said that it tasted much like a light, fluffy, buttermilk bar (which in essence it is...). Topped with a sweetened whipped cream and fruit, so almost a strawberry shortcake, and this has become my standard for a white cake recipe. My only alteration from the stock recipe was to add an additional 1/4 tsp. baking soda.

Oatmeal and Wheat Flour Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
Light and tasty, these are fantastic. I'd followed to the letter the first time, and was woefully shy of ingredients the second (substitute regular milk, add 1 extra tbsp brown sugar, 1/4 cup extra blueberries and regular unbleached flour, plus melted butter instead of olive oil) and ya know, both were fantastic! highly recommend either version, and will continue to make both. Yum!

Shrimp and Crab Bisque

Added a little curry powder and cayenne, but I imagine quite good even without. Just as good the next day for lunch too. Yum!

E-Z Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2008
I didn't add the cream of tartar(didn't have any, and after reading reviews didn't feel it necessary), and substituted buttermilk for regular milk. I realize that it's not following the recipe to the letter, but darn, it sure was tasty. Light, crisp shell, soft interior. Excellent!

Irish Cream Truffle Fudge

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
Never have I had coworkers rave this much about a holiday dessert...it does pack a punch -- the irish cream liqueur lingers quite a while, while at the same time preserving a bit of the freshness of the fudge. I will definitely make this again!

Two Ingredient Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
Sure, it came up fairly moist, and reasonably textured, but it certainly needed some pumpkin pie-ish spices. I'll try it again with some cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger, at the least...

Cucumber Sunomo

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2007
My Japanese wife loves it just as it is! Thinks it to be quite authentic, although feels that the sugar should be reduced to 2 1/2 teaspoons(but that's just her...I like it just fine.)
