About this Cook
I love to cook for my family and friends of course. I also love needlecrafts, particularly crocheting and knitting. I want to take up weaving again - just cant find the time!
My favorite things to cook
My Fiance's favorite - Spaghetti, homemade sauce w/ mushrooms & sausage and garlic bread! and weekend breakfasts :) its experiment time!
My favorite family cooking traditions
very Eastern European and Finnish/Scandinavian - anyone for Lefse or Lihapiirakka? :-)
My cooking triumphs
Holiday dinners for 30 to 50 regularly (full sit down ones!)and a rave review from everyone!
My cooking tragedies
other than burning the bacon? Cant think of a thing! :-) and leaving the gizzards in the turkey and the time the salad dressing exploded and... hmmm well - there are too many to list here. If it could happen it did! Murphy's Law :) I will comment here that sometimes I see reviews on this site that say "Don't ever do this or Don't ever do that" to recipes that use a method different than they do - In my humble opinion, I would say go ahead and try it! Unless its a health/safety issue. Everyone has different tastes. A recipe is a guide, not a law. Some must be followed more exactly than others but in the long run its all about what pleases you and your family/friends tastes - So HAVE FUN COOKING

Chicken in Mushroom Sauce
LOVE THIS! I've been making this recipe for years, we LOVE it. It is delicious as written and it is delicious if you want to add various seasonings etc to change it up a bit. This is a foolproof recipe for a wonderful meal. A great base recipe.

Pierogi from Granny
Awesome! My Stepdad's mom was Polish and I loved her dearly She was 101 when she passed and eating these makes me think of her & her wonderful kithchen - she made the best and this is the closest to her's. I pretty much think its common sense to break up the meat when its going to be stuffed in dough, but thats just me :) - I find that the dough works best for me when I form a long snake shape, slice rounds from it and then flatten further into nice circles, a touch of the rolling pin and wallah! Sometimes I add a bit of seasoning to the dough too - A recipe is a guide, not a rigid unbending law - after all everyone has different tastes, stoves and probably hubbys that are picky, picky, picky! (he loves these pierogi's though) thanks silkdiver :)

Easy Apple Crisp
Wonderful! thannk you! This came out of the oven, wasnt even on the counter for 30 seconds when my guy smelled, came running and DEVOURED it. I think it took him a whole minute to eat the entire crisp. He said it took so long because he was savoring it :)
