About this Cook
I share my house with my lab, Alex. He is a 75 lb lap dog. Besides my full-time job, I am a free-lance writer and I have self-published 3 cookbooks. Let's Get This Party Started!, Raquel's Just Desserts and Slow Easy. They are available at my website www.auntpurplescooking.com
My favorite things to cook
low fat, good tasting food of all types. I love trying out new recipes. I seldom make the same thing twice.
My cooking triumphs
The past couple years I have made Thanksgiving dinner for my Mom and my sister and her family. I'm also pretty proud of the dog cookies I made recently. Alex loves them!
My cooking tragedies
I hate throwing away a bunch of ingredients on something that just doesn't turn out quite right.

Quick Hoppin' John Soup
I used 16 oz of frozen okra instead of tomatoes and 7 oz Healthy Choice smoked sausage instead of the pork sausage. It is wonderful!! Delicious and easy!

Honey-Topped Sweet Potato
I had a couple of small sweet potatoes left from Thanksgiving so I thought this would be a great recipe to use them up. It was very good! And easy! I just put the 2 potatoes in the microwave for 5 minutes.

The Best Doggy Biscuits!
I took out the salt and added beef broth granules. My dog seems to like them very much- he keeps begging for them.
