Best Bruschetta Ever

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
This was a really great bruschetta recipe. Easy and delicious. I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 because i think it is definitely better with suggestions from other reviewers. I also added a couple splashes of balsamic, 3-4 chopped or diced garlic cloves (i love garlic) and a healthy portion of chopped onion. I sauteed the onion and garlic first, but i dont think thats absolutely necessary. Finally, i added some shredded mozzarella to the mixture for some texture and to hold the mixture together. I marinated them ingredients together overnight and spooned them onto mini bread slices and toasted. Everyone at our christmas party loved them! Thanks for the recipe - i think its very versatile and i will definitely make again.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
Delicious! And SUPER easy. This turned out great. I made it in two smaller pans so i needed about 10 minutes less cooking time. After I took out the loaves, they fell a bit and im not sure why that happened. I also would have preferred to put walnut pieces in the bread, but forgot, so i simply added them on top and it turned out great. this bread is moist and delicious - thanks for the recipe!

Melt in your Mouth Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
The taste is okay but the cookies turned out flat. I was looking for a recipe that didn't include certain ingredients since i am out of the country and its harder to find some things... not terrible, however, i probably will not be making these again.

Chocolate Frosting I

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
As with other reviewers, i found this recipe to be much too sweet, with not enough of a chocolate flavor. I am rating the recipe as it is written, not according to the changes suggested by other reviewers. Still, a solid, easy recipe for the future, with the other reviewers' suggestions. Thanks!

Chocolate Caramel Nut Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
I added an extra half package of cream cheese and baked the cheesecake an extra 15 minutes and it still was not enough - maybe my oven is not as hot as the average, however I am giving this a 4 instead of a 5 because although good - it was not great. I think the broken up pieces of candy bar would have been better if they were smooth instead of in pieces. Very good, very rich recipe. easy to make as well. Thanks!

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
Amazing and amazingly easy! I wanted to give this recipe a 4 instead of a 5 because it left out a key ingredient to kettle corn - salt - but it just tastes too good and is too easy to make to give a 4!!! The 3 kernel test, adding the sugar, then the kernels is perfect. Finally, when you remove the pot from the stove, sprinkle generously with salt - true kettle corn from a fair is always salty but sweet. Thank you for this awesome, easy recipe. We will definitely be making this on a regular basis!

Creamy Potato Leek Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
Wow! I was at the store and noticed the fresh leeks and bought them on a whim, then came home and looked up a recipe - i'm so glad I picked this one! I am literally eating the soup as we speak and it is phenomenal. After reading other's reviews and seeing what I had on hand, I used 5 cups of chicken broth instead of 4 (5 cups of water seasoned with chicken buillion cubes); used half a pound of bacon and half a pound of cubed pancetta (I live in Italy now and we have to use what we can find!); sauteed 4 chopped garlic cloves with the 2 whole leeks; after the potatoes were tender I took out approximately 1/4 of the batch and mashed them easily by hand with a masher. This recipe is delicious. A good way to clean leeks for those of us who dont cook with them often is as follows: 1. Rinse the outsides, cut off the bulb/root. 2. remove any outside leaves that are spotty or extra dark green, trim the ends of the green top of the leek. 3. cut the leek lengthwise down the middle, and chop according to recipe. 4. Place leeks in bowl of warm water and swirl around to remove excess dirt. 5. scoop out leeks and place in colandar, rinse. It seems like alot of work, but really its not that hard and it is worth it to not have dirt in your recipe. Thanks for the delicious soup - will most definitely make again!

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
I'm giving this recipe a 5, to be fair because i did combine this recipe with another on this website (Honey Baked Chicken I). I made mine with a roaster, rubbed it with garlic, salt, and pepper, and then basted with the honey mixture. I did not use curry powder, but the mustard added a delicious kick to the honey. I basted mine every 15-20 minutes and it turned out perfectly. The next day i used the left-over chicken to make sandwiches - delicious!!!

Honey Baked Chicken I

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
I made this recipe with a roaster, and it was absolutely delicious. I had to cook mine a bit longer because I didnt cut it into pieces. Approximately every 20 minutes I basted the chicken with the honey butter sauce. We absolutely loved it! This is a simple recipe that can be easily adjusted according to your taste or available ingredients. If you are willing to spend a little extra, i would suggest using pure honey becuse the taste is unbelievable. Either way, this recipe was a hit. After dinner, i cleaned the rest of the chicken off the bone and stored it in the refrigerator, the next day i heated it slightly in the microwave and then made it into toasted sandwiches with melted cheese. Thanks for the great recipe!

Easy Polenta with Tomato Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
I didnt exactly use this recipe, so it is not fair for me to rate it anything other than a 5. I made polenta from a different recipe, then i found this one, so i added the tomato sauce on top and baked the polenta. The only problem i had was that i think another type of cheese would have made it more savory. (maybe half parmesan, half cheddar or another cheese). If i make this again, i will try it with other cheeses. That aside, the simple addition of tomato sauce is a great idea! gave alot of flavor to the polenta. Thanks for the recipe!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
Very good. The only reason i am not giving this recipe a 5 is because my mom has made homemade pancakes my whole life and they just have that something extra that make them the 5. Also, with the additional information submitted from reviewers, this recipe becomes a 5. Like other reviewers, i added vanilla and warmed the liquids. Also, i am in Italy so i can only use what ingredients i can find. I used self-rising dessert flour instead of regular all-purpose flour and baking powder. Turned out great, fluffy, and delicious. Will definitely make again! Thanks!

Dutch Babies II

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
I'm rating this a 5 for the delicious flavor. Like other reviewers, i substituted a little bit of cinammon for the nutmeg, and i also added about half a teaspoon of vanilla extract. I have never had a dutch baby (are these truly Dutch? i grew up in a VERY PA dutch town and never had them - delicious!) and i was looking for a recipe that used only basic ingredients since i am abroad and it is hard to find alot of the baking ingredients we use in the states. This was unique and delicious. I made the "cinammon syrup" from this site to top the dutch babies (along with powdered sugar) and they tasted amazing. Will make again - thanks!

Cinnamon Syrup

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
I made this exactly according to the recipe and it turned out perfectly. I am in Italy, so it is difficult (or impossible) to find alot of the ingredients we use in America for cooking. This recipe was basic and simple, and it was delicious. It was particularly sweet, but if you are a sweet tooth (like my boyfriend) you will love it. We had this on pancakes, dutch babies, and i even put a little in the frying pan when I was frying up breakfast sausages and they came out with a salty/sweet flavor (sort of like the pre-packaged maple flavored sausages back home) - delicious!

Creamy Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
Delicious! i rated this pie on the taste. however, mine came out a bit runny (i know this is to be expected with most berry pies) but that could be through fault of my own. Anyway this is a great recipe because you can substitute and estimate and still get a delicious outcome. I also added fresh raspberries along with the blueberries.

Best Chicken Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
This was really very delicious. I wouldn't change anything, but would add to be sure that you dont over-season the corn flakes. I like alot of flavor, so i added season-all and some other seasonings to the cornflakes. This was a (my) mistake! this made the recipe way too salty. Anyway this was delicious and the chicken was moist. it got a little messy in the preparation, but thats to be expected. thanks for a new recipes to change things up!

Chunky Bacon and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
I suggest using a high quality extra lean bacon because anything other than that will cause the recipe to be too greasy. Other than that, this recipe was good. I would make it again, (with better bacon of course!)
