As always, I watch Food Network whenever I have spare time, or when I am doing things around the house. Lately, everything has been geared toward Thanksgiving, which is great, for the most part... I see one recipe that looks amazing and I want to make
it. Then the very next show comes on, and…
MORE
I am an environmental attorney, and have lived abroad in Spain and Italy with my husband who plays professional basketball. There, i was able to learn various food/cooking styles. Now, we are settled in the states. I have always enjoyed cooking and since building our new home I could create my kitchen to my specification so I am able to cook up a storm! I am always excited to learn new cooking techniques and try new things.
My favorite things to cook
Everything, but particularly I like to cook (and eat) gourmet appetizers and hors' deuvres.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am Pennsylvania Dutch and my husband is African American, from the South - as you can imagine we have all sorts of food stocked up in our kitchen! I love cooking new things and family traditions alike. My mom has made every meal from scratch since I was born. I am trying to follow in her footsteps, although one of my very favorite things in the world is to go out to dinner.
My cooking triumphs
Very proud that I have finally (and much thanks to this site) learned how to cook a steak properly on the range.
My cooking tragedies
Well, once in Spain I wanted to make my husband and Easter feast since we couldnt be with family. I bought a turkey and when i went to take it out of the package i realized it had its head, eyeballs, etc. still attached!!! Im not your typical girly-girl but let me tell you, this made me so squeamish! I tried putting gloves on and slicing off the head, but i just could not do it... either my knife wasnt sharp enough or it wasnt in my heart - either way, the whole thing went in the trash and we had chicken breast for Easter that year!
