About this Cook
Started cooking as my "job" for the family at the age of 12. My mother would give me instructions and leave out the ingredients. I really started enjoying it and began giving HER the grocery list! I then went to school for Dietetics where I specialized in Southeast Asian Cuisine. I also Cater for fun - I absolutely love the food service life. Consider myself to be quite a "foodie."
My favorite things to cook
Hmmm - what a loaded question! I enjoy using foods that are in-season in a variety of ways. I really enjoy Middle Eastern cuisine as well and since I live in FL - fish/seafood are a plenty!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My personal FAVORITE family cooking traditions are large breakfast casseroles during the holidays for those busy mornings. Also, during the colder months when I am visiting, baked hearty meals like lasagna and macaroni are always requested menu items!
My cooking triumphs
personally; I've always had an issue with frostings and candy - you must get the temperature jussst soo. But I have made excellent batches since...and if I must say so myself.
My cooking tragedies
I can honestly say that I've never conquered tofu. I've tried it in all firmnesses and in all types of dishes- to no avail - it is never good.

Butternut Squash Soup
4 out of 5 only because I made modifications... I roasted for 45 minutes. I also added into the mixture 1-8oz block of fat free cream cheese. I grilled chicken & apple sausages and threw those in as well. Spices used: Cinnamon, nutmeg, and curry. Also, added baby spinach at the end for a nice contrast in color - and swirled at the top of my bowl a little maple syrup. Oh. my this was heavenly. Will do again, but next time will add chopped apple as well.

Stephan's Broiled Salmon Pesto
This was very good - but I made a few modifications. I used the tomato based pesto and baked (not broiled) for 25 @375. I could imagine the caloric content of using regular pesto at even 1 cup! I used only 1/2 cup for 2.5lbs of salmon. Still very delicious. Topped it over "Salmon and Spinach Fettuccine" that is posted on this site. Magnifique!
