When I was in culinary school, there was a chef there that I never had the priveledge of having as an instructor. Everyone in the school knew him or at least who he was. Chef Papini was an Italian man, about five foot nothing and at least 60 years old when I was there in school. His toque… MORE

My heritage is cuban and puerto rican, so in our home, there were always plenty of beans, rice, and various fried meats (pork, beef, etc..).  On Sundays,… MORE

No more blank wall, we've got cabinets! In my last blog, I shared that the old wall-oven and counter-top stove were removed from Lissa's Kitchen; we cut into the counter and got a freestanding oven range.  Also removed an ugly old florescent light that hung above the counter and replaced it with MORE

The absolute best produce stand in Seattle! I just got back from MacPherson's. I love that place. I stuck to my list for once and just bought the broccoli (99¢ a pound) I needed for veggies and dip. And of course I checked out the clearance tables. The nectarines looked good. And there's… MORE

Wow - its been awhile huh?  Life has gotten in the way of most of my cooking time :o( . Meals have been fast - and my mom has been doing a lot of the work.  But we've still been able to keep it healthy - simply by focusing on how many vegetables we can get on the table per meal! Its actually… MORE

So I know it's not new to find a guy in the kitchen, however finding me in one is something kind of unexpected to my friends. For a long time, I have been one of those people that hate relying on others to do things for me (i.e. cooking, cleaning, laundry, ect.), therefore a couple years ago… MORE

Once again I find myself at 35,000 feet wending my way across the not so friendly skies of but this time I don’t mind as much as I normally do. That is probably because this time I am headed for a city that I have had a not so secret love affair with for over 20 years. A city that captures my… MORE

The weather has been so strange this year.  I have lived in Lake County, Calif. since 2004 and this is the first year it has rained into June and been this cold.  Usually, by the end of May it is warm, sunny, and the rain is gone till October. This year, June 4th was the last rain of the… MORE
