I wonder if anybody subscribes to it. I made some great split pea & bacon soup in the slow cooker on Monday when I was at home sick. Tasty and healthy.  A pound of split peas, 1/4 lb of partially-cooked bacon, onions, chives, garlic, carrots, chicken stock and a Tbsp of butter. MORE

What a great dinner tonight! I just had to share it. Very often when I make a meal, there are hits and misses. Tonight it was almost all hits. And if I am not mistaken, it qualified as a vegetarian dinner as well. For starters I made Simple Roasted Chickpea Snack. It was great, although the… MORE

I've been itching to try one of those faceless frenzy's or other such event. What could not be fun about trying new recipes and then attaching a photo to it? I spent a fair amount of time last weekend looking for good recipes bereft of photographic ID. I've found enough for a month of… MORE

The other day I had to use up some canned apricots that I had left over from another dish. I was going to use them on steak, but it didn't feel right. I switched to chicken thighs and legs and was rewarded with a really good recipe for chicken. The baked rice, which was part of the dish, not… MORE

Don't you just love it when you can't decide exactly what to make for supper, but you start making it anyway? I started out by taking steaks out of the freezer. The box from Capital Meats says, "Beef Strip Steaks." There is no telling what part of the cow they came from, but I can tell you… MORE

I love meat.  A great steak can make my night.  I love a good pork tenderloin.  Chicken-yes please!  Mmmm prime rib. So, why do I feel called to give up meat for Lent?   I wonder if its because deep down I feel like I need less meat in my diet...for health as well as economics..a little… MORE

I have a bit of a crush on my NuWave oven.  I use it often.  I use it for everything.  I'm glad it hasn't broken up with me yet!  Today was a marathon between me and NWO . ..  we roasted 2 whole chickens and grilled a large bag of chicken breasts.  Half of the first whole chicken was used to… MORE

Italian Inspired Vegetable soup -- from the WW magazine. Greatest soup I've had in a long time. Hubby likes it, and it's healthy and you can basically eat it all day long. In Weight Watchers lingo it's "Zero Points" In Nutrition lingo it's packed full of good stuff.  Here it is: Yum Yum.… MORE
