Coffee! We love it, like it or hate it, but so many of us need it and truly enjoy it. It is our wake up call, our reason to get out of bed, or maybe, it just plain tastes good. We make dates with friends to sit and linger over a cuppa joe, and reminisce, tell stories or share secrets. Maybe… MORE

I wrote in the beginning of a sequence of essays on foodservice employees that I would communicate the world of our profession to the general public.  Since then I have written about chefs, dishwashers, chain restaurants, and corporate interference in the workplace.  I still want to cover… MORE

A simple project, really--caulking the bathroom tub. But I think I was doing a couple things wrong. For one, you should push it like a snowplow; I was pulling it like a locomotive.SLS walks into the bathroom, looks at the tub, and then at me. I'm covered in chalky caulk. I look like I'm made MORE

I have so many great memories of Lost. I have been a fan of the series for the past three years - ever since my boyfriend introduced me to the series. I'm sad to see it go but at the same time I'm anxious for two reasons:One: ANSWERS! I doubt every question I have will be answered, but hey,… MORE

I came this close to telling him I was allergic to shellfish. A lie, of course, but it seemed the only way out. One peek inside his secluded wine-tasting room, hidden behind a stand of golden wildflowers at the bottom of a narrow and winding homemade asphalt road, and it was clear: Mr. M was… MORE

It's true. Caesar was a glamper.I've been watching the HBO series, Rome, and it's all right there. Caesar in Gaul, glamping. Caesar in Hispania, glamping. More glamping in Britain. He glamps on his way to cross the Rubicon. He casts his die, presumably, from the comfort of his glamping… MORE

We all know the French brag about being the best chefs in the world, but who really was the first one to put meat to a flame?  Who was the first to season food and mix herbs and spices to make the dish better? Who decided salad came before the entree?  And what about… MORE
