It's good news, bad news in New Mexico. The good: our airline has us confirmed on the flight out of Albuquerque. The bad: the flight doesn't actually exist, and it hasn't existed for 6 months. We are booked on a phantom flight. So we are in a pickle--or this being New Mexico, more like a… MORE

I like hamburgers, I also like cheese, chips, pork, heavy cream and beer; I also weigh close to 270 pounds. I am also hypertensive, diabetic and have extremely high lipids.  Fruits, vegetables, yogurt and salads were something other people ate and we called them sissies and wimps as the MORE

About three years ago we started a tradition of coming to our little paradise - Chincoteague Island - for the week after Christmas.  We rent an old Island house that was once owned by Miles Hancock, a local legend in the duck hunting, duck decoy carving circles.  My son and husband go duck… MORE

In Trinidad there is an abundance of foods from many cultures, in addition to the local Creole dishes. But why not Mexican? I can get the standard mass-market tasteless flour tortillas, salsa, etc. But nowhere is there REAL food like the amazing chimichangas, chorizo, enchiladas, etc. from my… MORE

Long before Emeril, Giada, The Neely’s and Bobby Flay picked their produce and sharpened their knives to perform culinary magic in front of the camera, there were other famous chefs that have not gotten the respect they deserve for bringing  the joy of food to the magic of television. Here is MORE

The grill is full of chops, steaks and hamburger patties and the waitress comes back into the kitchen and tells you there is someone out in the dining room that doesn’t eat meat and would like to know what you can make for them. Here are some questions the chef should ask: -Are they lac MORE

I haven't posted in a while; I've been busy and, for most of the last couple of days, on the wagon.  I've also gotten a crash-course in Harry Potter for the last week or so, as David wanted me to come with him to the newest movie.  There isn't much food in the house, other than what I'm going… MORE

We have a family bible at our house and it's not a traditional one. Or maybe it is... Our bible is the McGovern Book of Recipes--a collection of my mother's, mother-in-law's, step-mothers, mine and friends of mine that I've lovingly collected over the years. Funny how those years keep adding… MORE

I'll definitely be glad to see 2010 in my rear view mirror come December 31. Been a heck of a year; both parents-in-law in a nursing center at the same time in the winter/spring. Mom-in-law made it out, but dad-in-law died there. So the year's been filled with getting her settled in assisted… MORE
