Today's fasting BG was 150.  I'm thrilled that it is lower, but it was 120 just before going to bed last night! I worked more than 16 hours today, so this is short - basically just what I ate and the fact that the nausea seems to have passed! When I first woke up, I had a strawberry… MORE

I blame peer pressure, and that's a good thing. When trying to change a habit or create a new one, having other people to provide a little bit of reinforcement (positive and negative) can be hugely helpful. Even… MORE

Today, my fasting BG was 140!  I woke feeling better than the past two days.  A hint of nausea, but nothing like the past two days.  I got up to get ready for work this morning only to find that my work was cancelled due to inclement weather.  I slept in and decided to try to better prepare… MORE

Of course it will be some time before I will know whether or not I've chosen the "right" toaster oven for me, but that's the way it is! Have you all been sitting on the edges of your seats, and biting your fingernails in anticipation?  Well, here it comes, hopefully in some sort of coherent… MORE

Today, my fasting BG was 144!  I could hardly believe it!  Sadly, it had bounced up to just over 200 by the evening.  I have read that it will be a bit erratic until I am solidly in the state of ketosis.  I woke feeling better than yesterday, but still have a touch of nausea.  (Eating helps… MORE

We started this tradition last January - For the first couple of months of the year, we try to eat up all the food we've stockpiled in our freezer over the last several months. Our hope is to save money, time and hopefully eat better. Since we love to cook, and there are only two of us, we… MORE

Like most people I made a resolution this year to lose weight.  I've never been a fan of weight loss programs--I won't drink my meals in the form of a shake, I would rather just eat an apple than a "protein bar" laden with artificial sweeteners and syrups.  I'm into real food.  I want to… MORE
