It's become my habit since I became a "crazy cook" to gather ingredients for whatever I'm preparing before I begin.  I guess I agree with the cooking show hosts that it saves a bit of time...  So, I gathered what I needed to make a green bean side dish I found here at A/R, and off I went. … MORE

You're about to prepare a pasta dish, a primavera type, one requiring lots of fresh green and yellow vegetables. You realize you didn't pick up the summer squash, but you have cucumber. Do you chop up a quick cucumber salad to start, adding diced tomatoes and stealing some basil leaves from… MORE

I don’t always complain about Italy. And, I’ll never complain about Lucia. Lucia is a friend of mine who helps me around the house to do jobs that I can’t do thanks to the herniated disks and crushed vertebrae I’ve collected over the years. Her husband has Crohn’s disease and has so many… MORE

As I got out of the car the farm greeter (their dog) came over for some scratchin's, what a cutie! In just an hour and a half I… MORE

Raisins are the kind of things many of us have in the cupboard, but seldom use. However they are amazingly versatile as an ingredient. You can whip up a quick batch of raisin scones as a snack. You could add them to a delicious raisin soda bread, or even make an old fashioned raisin pie. If… MORE

Today was a nice change of pace.  I had a couple mothers over for a lunch date.  They each have a  4 year old and a 2 year old and one has a new born.  That makes 7 kids and 3 mommies.  The 4s and 2s did well playing there were a few power struggles but it was to be expected.  I enjoyed it… MORE
