My fasting bg was bounced up a bit today (156).  In analyzing what I ate yesterday, the problem was too little fat, too much protein, and I realized later that there was also all-purpose flour in something I had eaten.  Tonight, dinner was Italian sausage with a homemade sauce made of… MORE

Sunday was our Sweet Annie's first birthday.  It doesn't seem like a whole year has gone by.  But it has.  Because I have made it my goal for this year to spend more time with family and friends, I decided what better excuse to get the family together than to celebrate a birthday?  Not just… MORE

Real Food Day 21/1009 lbs. total gone and feeling great! As promised, I am going to discuss our food budget and how we make real food a practical choice in our household.  This is complicated to me, and jumbled in my head, so I’m going to make it as simple as possible.  Before Hubby jumped on… MORE

No, it isn't a joke. Obviously hookers know best when it comes to weenies.  I know I said that I was going to write a post on risotti, and that is in the works, but I laughed yesterday when I saw an Italian wife yelling at her Italian husband because he'd burnt the hot dogs out on the grill.… MORE

One of the first things I have learned about being Diabetic( and needing to both loose weight and become healthier) is it's important to know what calorie level you should be at for a day, and your activity level along with any other health issues, so consult your Doctor first. Your body… MORE

Earlier in the week I knew this weekend was going to be filled with good times, plenty of laughs, and good food. In addition to me making a promise to myself (aka New Year's Resolutions) to start getting more exercise, I also vowed to have more family dinner times and more times with our… MORE

My fasting bg seems to be settling between 84 and 111.  At this point, I have eliminated my need for fast-acting insulin and cut my baseline by half.  If I have too much protein the day before, I get a higher reading.  Similarly, if I do not eat enough fat, I will feel hungry, have less… MORE

My first catering gig! Yes! It took place the day before I left for Maryland.  I just wanted to go out to eat with entire family to say good bye-but my father suggested I cook dinner for everyone.  If you cant see it- I made fried rice with brown rice, chicken salad, shrimp and egg salad with… MORE

I’ve been away for so long that making myself write for the blog has become a task in itself. I guess, I’ll have to find out if I can do it and make it interesting – at least a little interesting. My wife has been having a chain of health issues that have kept our attention toward resolving… MORE
