This fruit rice stuffing accompanies roast duck as part of our traditional New Year's Day dinner. It's also an attractive side dish to serve alongside Cornish game hens and chicken. --Katrina Forar, Lakewood, Colorado

My original dressing seems to satisfy people who prefer dressing made with bread and those who prefer a rice variety. It includes both, plus spinach and a hint of orange for unexpected surprises. Leftover dressing (if there is any!) reheats well. -Gloria Warczak, Cedarburg, Wisconsin

This is the only stuffing I ever make and it gets RAVES! Not only is it beautiful, it has a wonderful meld of flavors and textures. Want something different than a sage dressing? Try mine!

This recipe is a delicious use of wild rice. Just be sure to season your ground pork if you don't buy it preseasoned (usually labeled as pork sausage). Fresh Italian sausage can also be used, just cut open the casing.

This dressing has a touch of tradition with a bit of Asian flair. My family is allergic to wheat but I wanted to continue with the traditional dressing idea. I then came up with the following which is my family's favorite now.

I take this to our family gathering for the holidays. Everyone likes it - the "meat eaters" don't miss the giblets. You can make it vegan by deleting the mushroom soup and increasing the broth, also use no/low fat soup if you like. Chopped walnuts can be substituted for chopped pecans.

This recipe makes a dressing with rice and apple mixed in with the usual ingredients. Use a rice cooker for the rice and a food processor to grate or chop vegetables and you can cut the prep time in half.

I made this recipe when we invited both families to celebrate our first Thanksgiving in our new home. There were 37 of us, and those who tried this dish raved about it.

If you prefer, you can stuff this mixture loosely into a bird to bake rather than in a separate dish.
