Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup raisins

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg. Combine the flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice; stir into the sugar mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Mix in the oats, walnuts and raisins. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
